Meet Peter Bergamin
I have always believed that education is about far more than passing examinations.
Success in History and the humanities depends upon the ability to analyse questions carefully, construct persuasive arguments, evaluate evidence critically and communicate ideas with clarity. These are skills that extend far beyond the classroom and remain valuable throughout university and professional life.
My teaching therefore focuses not only on helping students achieve stronger examination results, but on developing the intellectual confidence and independence that allow them to continue improving long after tuition has ended.
I currently teach and conduct research at the University of Oxford. My research focuses on modern European history, nationalism, and modern Jewish history, and my teaching draws directly on that ongoing academic work. Alongside my university teaching, I have many years' experience helping students develop the analytical thinking, writing and communication skills that underpin academic success.
Before pursuing an academic career, I worked as a conductor. That experience continues to shape my teaching, reinforcing the importance of careful preparation, clear communication and helping students develop confidence in their own abilities.
Every student is different. Rather than following a fixed teaching method, I adapt every lesson to the individual student's needs, identifying the areas that will make the greatest difference to their progress.
My goal is not simply to improve the next essay or examination result, but to equip students with the skills to analyse, question, argue and communicate effectively throughout their education.
